My interest in creating images and capturing moments began at a young age, driven by curiosity about how cameras worked and the importance photographs held for people. A defining moment in my photography journey came through my work as a Police Constable with the New Zealand Police, where I received extensive training as a forensic photographer. This role provided hands-on experience across New Zealand, working in demanding environments ranging from nighttime incidents and crime scenes to detailed studio-based work. These experiences shaped my ability to capture high-quality, accurate imagery under pressure, bringing a unique perspective to my photographic practice today.

I’m Sarahlee, the photographer behind Sarahlee Studio in Northland. What I do goes far beyond taking photos – I create a guided, confidence-building experience for people who don’t feel “photogenic” or think they need to be ready first. You don’t. I specialise in women, families, and multi-generational portraits, bringing everything together for you – styling guidance, a calm, unhurried shoot, and in-person viewing and ordering. I’m known for making people feel at ease quickly and for portraits that feel honest, elegant, and deeply personal. My work has been nationally recognised, but my real focus is creating photographs that feel like you; and become more valuable with time.
